Formed in 1930, the Victoria Branch of the BCRMTA is the second oldest Branch in the province. We include 121 teachers whose disciplines include organ, lute, guitar, voice, clarinet, recorder, and percussion. Languages spoken include English, French, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Hungarian and German
General meetings are held bi-monthly at the North Douglas Pentecostal Church and the current membership numbers 130. Executive meetings are held monthly at members homes. Throughout the years, the Branch has given its members the opportunity to socialize and exchange ideas, hear speakers on related topics and present their students in concerts and master classes.
The Branch also donates awards to the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival and several other Branch competitions and Bursary programs. Our Canada Music Week Composition Competition has recently been renamed the "Murray Adaskin Composition Competition" in honour of the late Dr. Murray Adaskin who was a life member of our branch.
